Disney World

Hi guys,

I just got back from Disney World yesterday! The last time I had been there I was 9, so it had been a while. Since I was older, I had to go on all the roller coasters...it was an interesting experience. Overall, I had a lot of fun!

The day we got there was Saturday night, so we didn't do anything. But on Saturday, we went to the Magic Kingdom.

That is Cinderella's castle! Since it was pretty hot and rainy, I kept my outfit simple and wore some running shorts and a long tank top with little jewels on it from H and M.

Me and my sister on the Thunder Mountain roller coaster. It was one of the less scary rides.

Me on the bridge in the little town!

We went on a lot of fun rides at Magic Kingdom. Some were little kid rides, such as The Winnie The Pooh Ride, The Peter Pan Ride, The Dumbo Ride, The Teacup Ride, and It's A Small World. But we also went on some bigger roller coasters like Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Space Mountain.

The most memorable day was probably the Animal Kingdom...

First of all, it was POURING in the morning.

My sister and I in front of the Tree of Life. Like our stylish umbrellas? :)
I was wearing another pair of running shorts and a tribal print tank top. Zoe decided to be a bit better dressed and wore a lace tank from J. Crew and black shorts.

The cool thing about Animal Kingdom is that it's part zoo, part amusement park with animal themed rides...that's a little tiger taking a nap. Isn't it cute??

Something that I NEVER intended to do was go on this freaky yeti ride- Expedition Everest. I went on it when I was 9 and cried, so I was still scared. I ended up going on it four times...if I closed my eyes and hid in the train car I was fine.

The third and last day, we went to Epcot. If you've never been to the Epcot section before, it has futuristic rides and stuff in the front and themed parts in the back with countries of the world. This one doesn't have any scary rides. :)

That day we went preppy- I was wearing a pink top from J. Crew and seahorse shorts from Vineyard Vines. Zoe was wearing a pink RL polo and Lilly shorts.

We didn't get many pictures at Epcot for the camera's sake...it was pouring off and on. I think that was the day of hurricane Isaac?...

That's me in the UK section at the telephone!

We came back yesterday. Overall it was a great trip!

Have you ever been to Disney?

Instagram

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be in Disney World tomorrow night through next Thursday, so there might be another lack of posts. I will probably schedule some though and see what I can do!

I think I mentioned before that I recently got a *better* phone. I got the samsung galaxy, with is android, which meant I could get an Instagram! While my younger sister was away at camp, I hacked into her iPhone and made one but I didn't post any pictures. But now I have been really obsessed with it and posting pictures every day!

Well, the pictures I post now are kind of pointless...but it's still fun.

Taylor Swift's New Album and New Look

Hi guys!

Have you heard that Taylor Swift is coming out with her fourth album?

Being the Taylor fan that I am, of course I'm extremely excited. The album is called Red and is set to be released October 22.

Because Taylor has picked "themes" for her album as the title, I can't wait to see how Red will summarize the entire album. In the past, Taylor's themes have been Fearless and Speak Now, which were very powerful messages. Taylor's first album was titled Taylor Swift, but I consider that a theme because it was all about her experiences and debuting herself as an artist. I wonder how she will send a message with a color as a title.

As you can see, it's the first time Taylor has ditched her signature curls for the album cover. She has also ditched "Taylor Swift" being written in her normal signature font. Yet, I absolutely love it and I think it's my favorite cover yet.

By now you have probably heard the first single, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Here's a snapshot from the lyric video:

Although I absolutely love her outfit on the cover, I have to be honest and say I don't really like the song. Taylor started out country but then started crossing into pop. But by crossing over, she still sang her heartfelt story-telling lyrics, only with a poppy beat in the background and some more electric guitars. This song was obviously written for pop radio. Although there is a country remix for the song, which is most likely what will appear on her album, it still doesn't sound right. The song triggers no emotional response. It's a song that you hum along to on the radio, but that's it. And I'm certainly not used to that from Taylor.

It makes me feel better, however, that there's 16 tracks on Red, so I'm sure I will find other songs that I like. In addition, Taylor admitted she wrote this song as a joke. It's amusing to see songs worse that this on the radio that were written in full seriousness. I can see why she decided to have this as her first single, because it broke the record for the top selling digital song for a woman and shot to #1 on the Billboard hot 100.

Taylor announced information about her new album in a live chat about a week ago. Unfortunately, I was at my cottage, so I had to miss it, but watched it first thing when I got home. In it, she was wearing an adorable red and white striped dress.

I've noticed that Taylor has been wearing a bit more of a nautical or slightly preppy look lately, but still with a vintage touch. Taylor is currently in a relationship with Conor Kennedy (in the Kennedy family.) She also recently bought a house in Cape Cod and has been spending a lot of time there. Check out her outfits below:

Guest Post:: Robert from Style Pilot:: Top 5 Color Trends for Fall 2012

If you have not started filling up your wardrobe for the winter months, then it is time to hit the shops and start building your style in preparation now.

While we looked at what the most popular trends are going to be the fall and through the winter, there as one thing that we noticed.

Changing Fashions

In the past, fall and winter fashion trends have been dominated by colors that have perfectly reflected, well, fall and winter. Common color trends at this time of year have been dark yellows, reds, and browns, and have clearly taken their inspiration from typical scenes of leaves falling from trees and hedgerows losing their color.

Although those colors play a small part in this years’ styles, they are not as dominant as they have traditionally been in the past, indeed in many cases they take a back seat to the rest of this years’ fall fashions.

What are the top 5 color trends you should be looking out for in stores now?

Prints

Although not a color trend in the literal sense, prints have been huge throughout the summer and are set to continue being popular right through 2012 and well into next year, too. How daring and left field you want to be with your prints comes down to whatever you are comfortable with, however if you are not comfortable in inspirational floral patterns then you may have a problem.

Neutrals

Neutral color trends are usually best avoided, however form a key part of fall fashions and styles at the end of 2012. White and tan will be the most common colors, and can be stylishly worn with several aspects of your already excellent wardrobe.

Freezing Contrasts

Blue and grey colors are both set to dominate this season’s fashions, giving winter the edge where fall usually rules the day. The “Ice King” look is very much in vogue for this year, with all manner of garments being produced in icy blues and greys to create cold contrasts, sharp edges and an aggressive, attitude-laden look.

Pastels

Huge all summer and the popularity again continues, in a similar vein to prints. Pastel colors are ideal for a relaxed, casual look, and allows you to sample some great year-end fashions without looking towards some of the more polarizing looks.

Loud and Bright

Another carry over from the popular summer trends is loud, bright color schemes. Although the key difference with this season is that, perhaps surprisingly, there is no contrasting against darker color shades. Bright and flashy all the way it is for fall and winter 2012.

"Things I Wore Before They Were Cool"

Hello everyone!

Sorry I have been an awful blogger this week....as I mentioned before, I had camera issues, but now I got a new phone that I can take OOTD pictures with so I will just use that from now on!

The title of this post makes me sound like such a hipster, haha. I was thinking a lot about how I was the only one to wear certain trends in the past, doubted myself and stopped wearing them, and then six months or a year later it's the new "thing." Check out the instances below!

1. Jeggings.

I had a pair of jeggings when I was in 6th grade, aka the fall of 2009. I thought they were kinda weird since I was the only person that had them (and didn't know they were even called jeggings....) A year later, the fall of 2010 jeggings were HUGE!

2. Neck scarves.

I've always thought these were adorable! I went through a neck scarf phase in the fall of 2010 and into the spring of 2011, but I decided they were out because someone said I looked like a flight attendant. I may have to bring my neck scarves back out again because apparently they are in this fall!

3. The Peter Pan Collar.

At the beginning of last summer, my family took a trip to Ireland and while in Dublin we stopped in Topshop. I spotted a top that I thought was adorable and bought it! Since then, I unfortunately lost it, but peter pan collars were popping up everywhere this recent spring.

4. Socks and boots.

I think I tried out this trend back when I was in 4th-5th grade. I got the inspiration from Alex Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place and thought I was so cool...later I realized I totally wasn't (I wore it with some really tacky outfits.) I was surprised when I saw a bunch of girls wearing this trend this winter and now I see that it can totally be pulled off!

Has this ever happened to you? Were there any trends you discovered "before they were cool?"
