Guest Post :: Citrus and Style

Hello Significantly Styled readers!

It's Caroline from www.citrusandstyle.blogspot.com guest posting for Signe today.

Since the holidays are quickly approaching, I thought I could give you all some handy tips on how to take fab pictures!

{Find the perfect light}
Try to get the sun to shine on you. Or, try having the sun behind you for an interesting effect.

{Zoom in on one object}
Try to zoom in on one particular object, and then the background will look blurry. This causes the main object to appear more "special".

{Get an interesting angle}
A good angle can make or break a shot. An interesting one will really catch your eye!

{Take a video for motion shots}
If you want a clear, action shot, take a video and then go back and use those clips for pictures. I constantly do this on my iPhone and it works really well!

{Have a good photo editor}
I have a bunch of great apps on my phone to edit pictures (for Instagram especially!). My favorite is definitely Picfx because you can add little light dots and hearts! I also recommend having some kind of grid app to make a little picture collage.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, and be sure to check out my blog, Citrus and Style!

Do you have any other tips?
xoxo,

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!

I hope you all are having a great holiday with your family!

Generally I can say I am pretty happy with my life at the moment. Although I am stressed with school, I have a lot of things to be thankful for!

1. High school
I am honestly so thankful that I am in high school and that my middle school days are over. Sometimes when the homework gets bad, I find myself wishing I was back in middle school with super easy homework....and then I remember the details of what it REALLY felt like to be in middle school. And I'm so happy that's over. High school is going great so far- I'm currently in a play that happens next weekend and I'm so excited.

2. My friends
Starting high school meant new friends, and I'm so grateful for the ones I have made in the past few months! My social life has been drama-free and it's nice to have those people you can laugh at inside jokes with. :)

3. My family
I know that some people don't have as nice of a family as I do and I sometimes take that for granted- I often get annoyed with my parents for irrelevant things but I'm very glad to have them! And I can't imagine what it would be like to be an only child- I'm so thankful for my younger sister.

4. The fact I have privileges
I take for granted the fact that I can go to the mall and can (in theory ) buy whatever I want, I can call my parents to pick me up from school whenever I want, I can go buy food whenever I want, and that I go to a good school. Because I know people who don't have all these things and I hate that. I dislike the fact that I think certain issues in my life have been absolutely awful when I've recently talked to people who have had it much worse in their childhoods or lives in high school. That's why I think everyone has to be thankful for the things they DO have- happiness is a choice!

What are you thankful for this year?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

So as you can see, I broke the cycle of my blogging schedule....

I was actually super busy which was why I haven't been able to blog, but I'm picking it up now! So here is my What I'm Loving Wednesday...

#1 "It's Thanksgiving" by Nicole Westbrook

Oh. my. god. This is HILARIOUS. (And also the reason why there is no such thing as Thanksgiving music.) In case you didn't already notice, it's written by the same people who wrote the song "Friday" but a different girl singing it. But I can actually say this is worse than "Friday." Also, it's just plain creepy when the mysterious guy from the Friday video pops up in the middle of it and starts rapping and then joins the kids' Thanksgiving party...and don't get me started on the part where she rips the turkey leg off and uses it as a microphone...

#2 BrittneyPanda on Instagram.

So I've discovered my new favorite instagrammer! If you haven't heard of BrittneyPanda then you should go follow her cause her pictures are flawless.

#3 Ho Hey by the Lumineers...

So I've got to admit, when I first heard of this song I used to make fun of it simply cause it was titled "Ho Hey." I thought it was gonna be some K-Pop thing but then I listened to it and I was like ohhh....long story short I am now obsessed.

#4 The Perks Of Being A Wallflower the book

I loved this movie and the book is definitely just as good! I am about 80% done with it and happy I have just a little more to read. Some people might think it might move slowly, which is partly true because it's not an action-oriented book. What I like about it is that it pretty much revolves around the main character's inner thoughts and feelings, which I find really relatable. I'd definitely recommend it.

#5 Wearing a peter pan collar under whatever shirt you want so you can basically give any of your shirts a bonus peter pan collar. :)

How clever is that??

Thanksgiving Outfits

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I've decided to start thinking about what I will wear to Thanksgiving dinner!

I really do like Thanksgiving- I just like the atmosphere and yummy food. Sometimes it is annoying, however, when all people want to do is watch the football game. I personally think it completely ruins the holiday and causes my family to ignore me. I have also disliked the fact that we have always eaten Thanksgiving "dinner" at like 2 or 3 in the afternoon. But anyway, it's better than being in school!

Normally people dress pretty casual at my Thanksgiving dinner. I don't really know anyone who would go beyond semi-casual. But nonetheless I have created casual, semi-casual, and dressy outfits!

(Technically I'd just consider this casual...)

What do you usually wear on Thanksgiving?

Song Lyric of the Day

After thinking it over, I decided to only occasionally post my words of wisdom from my song lyrics. Although I have many good lines to share for the purpose of my readers relating to them, I realized they are all quite depressing and about the same subject matter, which could get boring after a while! So if I see a quote I like on Pinterest or whatever, I will post those too. :)

Posting Schedule

Hi guys,

As you all know, there has obviously been quite a lack of posts lately! I've decided to come up with a schedule to post things about so I'm not always struggling to come up with something.
What do you think? I tried to make it so that it isn't TOO much of a strict schedule but it still gives me an idea for what to post about! If you don't like it let me know, and if you have any other ideas then please comment! :)

Oh, and I think I'll start this tomorrow!

p.s. You may have also noticed I made a few minor changes to my blog design. :)

Quotes For Your Week

Happy Monday everyone :)

I had quite a boring field trip today and rode a total of three hours on a crowded school bus. Now I am quite tired but have to do all my homework. I decided to take a break and share some fun quotes from my pinterest!

Perks of Being A Wallflower anyone?

Like the bonus philosophical sounding quote from moi? Hehe :) Maybe I should start a thing where I add my own words of wisdom from somg lyrics and such!

HELP!!!

So as you have probably noticed, I have not been posting lately...

and it's cause I have NO IDEA what to post about!!!

I guess it's partly cause I haven't had time- my past few weeks have had a serious amount of homework, play rehearsals, and babysitting- but even if I had time to be posting I probably still wouldn't cause I've got a serious lack of ideas here.

It's affecting my pageviews, too.

I really want to keep people interested, which is why I'm kind of picky when it comes to post ideas. I really don't want to be posting the same thing over and over again! So if you have any ideas or things you would like to see me post about, please email me or comment below. :)

Thank you so much!

Fake Bangs

I've always wondered what I would look like with bangs. I've thought about getting them before, but decided no bangs would work a lot better with my face. I think only some people can pull off full-on bangs. I really liked Taylor Swift's curly hair, but I love her wavy hair and bangs also.

Then I discovered there was a way to find out what you would look like with bangs!

A few weeks ago I did this to myself. It was pretty entertaining.

If you want to know what you would look like with bangs, it is quite simple!

What you will need:
- A hair straightener
- A brush
- A hair tie
- Bobby pins and clips
- A stylish hat

1. First, brush out your hair and straighten it. I've found this works a lot better with straight hair. Keep your straightener on because you may need it later.
2. This step will depend on the length of your hair. If you have shorter hair, take the hair tie and ponytail off a small section of hair nearer the top of your head. If your hair is longer, make the ponytail closer to the middle or bottom. If your hair is medium length, make it somewhere in the middle.
3. Take the ponytailed section of hair and pull it up over your head so the end is hanging over your forehead. If it goes down too far or too high, adjust the placement of the ponytail.
4. Take two clips and clip them on to either side of your bangs in progress. You can further adjust the placement with bobby pins.
5. Take a comb or brush and even out the bangs with your other hair. Using the straightener to even them out works well, also.
6. Finally, put on a hat to complete the look! (Unfortunately your bangs will only look believable if you are wearing one. ;)

Have you ever tried this or actually had bangs before?

8 Things That Annoy Me

I often come up with these rants in my head and thought it would make a pretty funny blog post. I've seen people on youtube do this and decided to try it out!

1. People walking slow in the hallway.
Oh my gosh, I cannot stand this. I walk extremely fast with a purpose and it bothers me so much when people move at like 0.0001 miles an hour. I have to slow down and try to get past them. It's also annoying when people have random group hug-fests in the middle of the hall and totally clog it.
2. When teachers request a binder for their class, then NEVER hole punch their papers.
I really don't understand this!!! I currently have the side pocket of one of my binders completely filled up with hole-less papers. And it takes me like an hour to get my little hole puncher and punch all the holes in.
3. The things people tag their Instagram pictures with.
Most Instagram tags I'm okay with. The main three that annoy me are #wecute #imjelly and #wesopop. Anyone agree??
4. When people text you at really inconvenient times.
It seems like when I'm bored, NO ONE ever replies. But when I'm doing homework, watching tv, playing guitar etc. then that's when people start talking to me.
5. When you just took a shower, then realize you have gym.
Ugh, this is annoying! I hate going to school feeling fresh and clean, then have to do some brutal thing in gym class. Especially if it's outside and the wind totally messes up my hair.
6. When I'm really hungry then get to lunch and I have nothing in my lunchbag.
Usually I have a few good things in there, but I'm so disappointed at the times where I'm absolutely starving and I'm totally expecting some yummy pasta salad and get a peanut butter jelly sandwich. Well, at least it's food.
7. When I'm in the middle of telling a really good story and no one is paying attention, or someone interrupts me and everyone turns to them.
Don't you just hate this? I feel like it happens to me all the time because I don't have the loudest voice in the world and let other people talk a lot. But really I'm thinking "umm hellooo I was talking!!"
8. When you're really tired but have a ton of homework, then have no homework but wide awake....
This one really bugs me because I'm really particular about sleep and I hate it when I have to alter my sleep cycles to finish homework. People really get way more homework than we  should. I don't think you should have to sacrifice sleep to finish homework but sometimes you really don't have a choice. One day last week I had play rehearsal until 4:30, then had to come home and eat dinner. At 5:45 I had to walk to church to babysit and got home around 8:30. I then had 2-3 hours of homework when I'm supposed to go to bed at 9 to get 9 hours of sleep. And when am I supposed to use extra time to study for tests, blog, or check Pinterest and Instagram?!

Can you all relate? Do these things annoy you too?
