Celebrity Look Alikes

I have always wanted to look like a celebrity. I think it would be so cool. Unfortunately, I don't really. But have you noticed there are a lot of twin looking celebrities?

Many of us are aware that Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry could be twins. But did you know that they could be triplets with Emily Blunt also?

Second, Emily Osment looks a lot like Carrie Underwood.

Paris Hilton and Chantelle Houghton look quite similar....

...so do Lauren Conrad and Kate Middleton.

With short hair, Lily Collins bears striking resemblance to young Audrey Hepburn.

Alexandra Breckenridge and Evan Rachel Wood...

...and finally, Lea Michele and Rebecca Black!!!

Do you know of any other celebrity look alikes? Do you look like any celebrities?

The closest I have came up with for me is Charlize Theron before plastic surgery.

Any better ideas?

Abercrombie Looks: FAIL

I don't shop at Abercrombie. I don't think I own anything from the store. I don't really like it either- I think it is really boring and overpriced. But I decided to go on the website the other day and look at their current lookbook, aka "The Hottest Looks Of The Season". Looking at this page made me dislike Abercrombie more because I have no idea what the person who dressed the model was thinking!

This is supposed to be a fall lookbook, but we're still seeing elements of summer with the bright white lace tanktop and flip flops. The heavy and dark winter scarf throws the whole thing off and the plain jeans don't do much to save it.

This outfit is having the same problem. First of all, that dress doesn't match my school dress code. Second, the bright, white summery lace clashes with the dark, heavy knit navy sweater. And it's time to put away the flip flops!

This look, called "Fall Walk", looks like fall on the top and summer on the bottom. I don't know who would want to take a fall walk in lace shorts and the overly-used brown flip flops don't match the color tone of this outfit at all.

This may be the worst one yet. First of all, a cable knit pullover sweater is paired with athletic shorts. If you want to be sporty, then wear a sweatshirt! The green, yellow, and red scarf looks very odd with the shorts, and the heavy colors clash against the white of the sweater. Then the brown flip flops (seriously, do they sell any other shoes?!) are there quite randomly also.

Ok, so this is basically having the same issues the other four are. However, this is titled "House Party" and I think it's the most bizzare outfit to wear to a party. First of all, the blazer looks like your school uniform and is not working well at all with the skirt. The sweater is cute for school but it's pretty blah. And the flip flops to top the ensemble off are pretty self explanatory.

I think that Abercrombie has a lot of cute basic pieces, actually. But the thing is that you can buy things just like that from places like Target and Forever 21 for a fraction of the price. It's so overrated! However, they have no idea how to make good outfits. Overall, I think this lookbook was pretty bad.

Current Playlist

Hi guys!

I was in the middle of posting yesterday about something totally different, but then gave up and watched Gossip Girl...haha. Anyways, today I feel like sharing my current favorite tunes with you!

Ok, first of all, let me just say what kind of iPod I have. I have the iPod nano 5th generation.

I know, it's pretty ancient....it seems like everyone had one of these in 5th-6th grade but when my mom tried to take hers to the Apple store to get fixed, the person there was like "woah! I have never seen this before!" Mine still works well for holding music. It's just that I can't have an Instagram or do any of the other fun stuff that people can with iPod touches and iPhones. (I do have a Kindle fire, but it only has the apps that Amazon has and it doesn't have a camera.)

I always take my iPod with me while working out, but I listen to completely different songs. (I think I will make a Workout Playlist post in the future!) These are the songs that I listen to for fun or while cleaning my room.

1. Wide Awake- Katy Perry
I'm so glad Katy re-released Teenage Dream to add this! Supposedly it's written about her divorce. I think the lyrics are genius and I love the mysterious, airy feel it has. The music video is quite strange though....
2. Blown Away- Carrie Underwood
This is the leading track off Carrie's new album Blown Away. I think that it is a masterpiece and extremely powerful song, and is definitely worth going to listen to.
3. Easy Silence- The Dixie Chicks
Before listening to this Dixie Chicks album in the car I had totally forgotten that I really loved this song. It's really peaceful, calm, and relaxing.
4. Emmylou- First Aid Kit
This sister duo is not well known, but they should be because I really love this song. The genre is pretty folk and I love the harmonies in it.
5. I'd Lie- Taylor Swift
You won't find this song on iTunes, which is a shame because it could be a huge hit. Taylor wrote this when she was about 15 and it's still unreleased. You can easily find a download link for it, though, and you should- it's so heartfelt and addictive.
6. White Dress- Parachute
I really love what this song is about. It's about a girl with extremely high hopes, aspirations, and expectations and the guy is saying he wants to love her more then everything she wants....how cute. :)
7. Two Is Better Than One- Boys Like Girls
Another very cute song. It's easy to listen to and easy to love. Bonus: Taylor Swift sings background vocals on the chorus.
8. You Don't Know Me- Ben Folds featuring Regina Speaktor
This song kind of reminds me of Sarah Bariellies. (Did I spell that right?..) It's catchy and instantly addictive.
9. You Were Meant For Me- Jewel
I just love the music in this song (although the lyrics are great too.) It's like 10 years old but still amazing!
10. In Your Arms- Kina Grannis
This singer is not widely known, but I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this on the radio at Panera! If you haven't heard of Kina Grannis, go look her up because she definitely has potential to be pretty famous, not to mention the video for this song is pretty epic. :)

I hope you liked all my music suggestions and now have an idea of what to put on your iPod!

Personalities

Hi guys,

I am finally making the post of the thing I have been wanted to post about forever. I'm taking a break from fashion today to talk about something fun (I think.) Some of you will enjoy this post, others will be uninterested and confused. :) But personally I love this kind of stuff, which is why I want to talk about it today!

Basically, two people named Isabel-Briggs Myers and Carl Jung came up with a theory that people could be catagorized into 16 different personality types. Each type name is made up of four different letters from eight different functions that people prefer to see the world in. These four letter combinations are also catagorized into four different temperaments, in all making 16 types, based on similarities.

Ok....that probably sounded really confusing. But maybe you'll understand it better when I go through it like this:

My personality is the INFP: Introverted, iNtuition, Feeling, Perceiving.

Letter 1

The first letter of each type is either I or E, which relates to how you are with other people. I stands for introverted, E stands for extraverted. If you are introverted, you are probably shy and focus on your own thoughts. If you are extraverted, then you probably are outgoing and live your thoughts out loud.
Letter 2

The second letter is N or S, which relates to how you see the world. N stands for iNtuition, which means you see the big picture- your thoughts are abstract, you see what could be, you look for underlying meanings in things, live in the future, and see possibilities. S stands for sensing. If you prefer sensing, your thoughts are concrete, you take information in through your 5 senses, you pay attention to detail, see things for what they are, and usually live in the moment.
Letter 3

The third letter is either T or F, how you make decisions. T stands for thinking-- you use logic, apply past experience, are ruled by your head, and make decisions from a detached standpoint. F stands for feeling-- you make decisions based on what you're feeling, are ruled by your heart, think about all the people involved and how it relates to your life.

Letter 4

The fourth letter is either J or P. J stands for judging. It has nothing to do with being judgmental, however (I have no idea why it's even called judging.) Basically it means that you like to plan everything out and are organized. P, or perceiving, is when you don't care about planning, are more spontaneous, and you are disorganized.

Reading through my letter descriptions, you are probably trying to figure out which ones you are and probably thinking you use both. Well, it's true that everybody and all types use both, it's the preference that determines the types. And types as a whole all possess certain characteristics.

Before you take the test, click here to see all the different types!

It's so funny to read paragraphs of detailed descriptions of my exact behavior:

"INFPs are highly intuitive about people. They rely heavily on their intuitions to guide them, and use their discoveries to constantly search for value in life. They are on a continuous mission to find the truth and meaning underlying things. Every encounter and every piece of knowledge gained gets sifted through the INFP's value system, and is evaluated to see if it has any potential to help the INFP define or refine their own path in life.

Generally thoughtful and considerate, INFPs are good listeners and put people at ease. Although they may be reserved in expressing emotion, they have a very deep well of caring and are genuinely interested in understanding people. This sincerity is sensed by others, making the INFP a valued friend and confidante. An INFP can be quite warm with people he or she knows well.

INFPs do not like conflict, and go to great lengths to avoid it. If they must face it, they will always approach it from the perspective of their feelings. In conflict situations, INFPs place little importance on who is right and who is wrong. They focus on the way that the conflict makes them feel, and indeed don't really care whether or not they're right. They don't want to feel badly. This trait sometimes makes them appear irrational and illogical in conflict situations. On the other hand, INFPs make very good mediators, and are typically good at solving other people's conflicts, because they intuitively understand people's perspectives and feelings, and genuinely want to help them.

INFPs are flexible and laid-back, until one of their values is violated. In the face of their value system being threatened, INFPs can become aggressive defenders, fighting passionately for their cause. When an INFP has adopted a project or job which they're interested in, it usually becomes a "cause" for them. Although they are not detail-oriented individuals, they will cover every possible detail with determination and vigor when working for their "cause".

When it comes to the mundane details of life maintenance, INFPs are typically completely unaware of such things. They might go for long periods without noticing a stain on the carpet, but carefully and meticulously brush a speck of dust off of their project booklet.

INFPs do not like to deal with hard facts and logic. Their focus on their feelings and the Human Condition makes it difficult for them to deal with impersonal judgment. They don't understand or believe in the validity of impersonal judgment, which makes them naturally rather ineffective at using it. Most INFPs will avoid impersonal analysis, although some have developed this ability and are able to be quite logical. Under stress, it's not uncommon for INFPs to mis-use hard logic in the heat of anger, throwing out fact after (often inaccurate) fact in an emotional outburst.

INFPs have very high standards and are perfectionists. Consequently, they are usually hard on themselves, and don't give themselves enough credit. INFPs may have problems working on a project in a group, because their standards are likely to be higher than other members' of the group. In group situations, they may have a "control" problem. The INFP needs to work on balancing their high ideals with the requirements of every day living. Without resolving this conflict, they will never be happy with themselves, and they may become confused and paralyzed about what to do with their lives."

Reading about your personality type is not only fascinating, but it helps you to discover who you are and why you do the things you do. It also can tell you how you would react in relationships, the best careers for you type, and your strengths and weaknesses. According to a few websites, the best careers for my type are:

  • Activist
  • Architect
  • Artist
  • Actor
  • Counselor
  • Employee Development Specialist
  • Educational Consultant
  • Editor
  • Filmmaker
  • Fashion Designer
  • Graphic/Web Designer
  • Legal Mediator
  • Musician
  • Psychologist/Counselor
  • Photographer
  • Social Scientist
  • Social Worker
  • Teacher/Professor
  • Video Editor
  • Writer

And I think I'd be happy in any of those.

It's also really fun to see what famous people have your type!
These are all people that are INFPs:

J.K. Rowling

John Lennon

Kurt Cobain

Johnny Depp

Robert Pattinson

William Shakespeare

Audrey Hepburn

James Taylor

Laura Ingalls Wilder

Neil Diamond

Princess Diana

But the most fun thing about this is analyzing other people and trying to guess their personality type. I have guessed all of my friends, family, and even people from some other blogs. So if you are reading this, you should take the test and comment on what you get- I'd be curious to know! If you don't understand the test and just guess, however, you can sometimes get inaccurate results. So think it over carefully and then go back and read about all the types and functions to decide for yourself what you think best fits you.

After you've taken the test, visit this site to learn all about your personality type. If you want to know celebrities with your personality type, go to celebritytypes.com.

Well, that was a very long and detailed post, but it's different and really cool!

School Bag Search

Even though it's still only July, I have been on a search for the perfect school bag. I have debated between the different styles: tote, messenger bag, and backpack.

In 7th and 8th grade I used this Vera Bradley Frill messenger bag in Hello Dahlia:

I was really obsessed with it at the beginning of 7th grade, but I soon found that it was really small, was really heavy on my shoulder, and by 8th grade I had outgrown my Vera Bradley obsession phase anyway.

So I was pretty sure I was steering clear of VB when buying a new school bag for high school. Then, while looking at backpacks, I stumbled upon the Metropolitan:

And I really, really love the style of the bag!!! It's on sale right now online, it has the size of a backpack, and you can carry it like a tote OR messenger. Ok, it looks slightly like a briefcase/overnight bag thing....but I think it it is really unique and perfect for what I carry around at school. My only problem with it is that it's Vera Bradley. I feel like whenever I carry around a Vera Bradley bag in one of their obvious patterns, it just SCREAMS "look!!!!! I have a Vera Bradley bag!!!!!!" Know what I mean? Plus, I wanted something really simple for school- that's durable, pretty plain, and will match all my outfits. But I really like the bag!!

So today I have some questions for you to leave in the comments:
1. What do you think of the bag? Do you think it's good for starting high school or is it weird and everyone else will have a backpack?
2. Do you think having a tote or backpack is better for school?
3. Do you know of a place that sells a bag similar to the Metropolitan in non-prints?
4. If I got this bag, what pattern should I get? (I was thinking either of the patterns you see in the pictures or in Blue Lagoon.)

Thanks so much for your input- I would really like to have a backpack/bag I love this year!

Katy Perry: Part of Me

Have you all seen the Katy Perry movie?

I just saw it yesterday and it was really really good. I have had mixed reactions on Katy Perry and her music-- some songs she writes, like "Pearl" and "Not Like The Movies", are amazing but others like "California Gurls" and "Peacock" are a bit  extremely questionable. The movie was very moving/inspirational and gave off a darker vibe than I expected. I felt it displayed the perfect combination of her concerts and her life. The movie takes you through her entire journey through her Part Of Me tour, going back to show video clips and interviews with Katy and the people she works with. Personally I love watching documentaries of famous people because I always find the stories of how they got famous very fascinating. It showed how hard Katy had to work to get to where she is today-- having no money and getting dropped by countless record labels. The movie showed different parts of her childhood and later on when she moved to L.A., while at the same time showing her sing the song in concert that related to that moment in her life. You also get to see what goes on backstage during her tour and her at her lowest point- when she got a divorce. After I left the movie I was a bigger Katy Perry fan. The movie really shows how devoted she is to her career, how much she has been through personally, and how she really loves to entertain people. I still don't get how she is such a kid idol and does such suggestive things, however. But I still think she's talented, comfortable with her image, and just wants to have fun, so she's just going to be who she is- I hope younger kids don't take it too seriously. Overall I highly recommend you see this movie because it's really worth seeing. Have you seen it yet? Did you like it?
